The green side of Spider-Man

Emellie O’Brien, the only Eco Supervisor active on the East Coast, helped The Amazing Spider-Man 2 crew avoid producing tons of garbage. Composting had a huge impact. Seventy-two tons of food waste and compostable dishware were collected in compostable bags and then hauled to an industrial composting facility where it was converted into nutrient-rich soil instead of winding up in a landfill.

A total of 755 tons of material — equivalent to the size of 3.5 Statues of Liberty — were diverted from landfills. A further 49 tons of construction and set decoration materials were sold or donated after the production wrapped.
