DiCaprio brings “Dieselgate” on screen

Hollywood actor/producer Leonardo DiCaprio is planning to bring the Volkswagen emissions scandal on screen. The German car company violated the Clean Air Act in the United States which is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). From 2009 through 2015, the Volkswagen Group had programmed their diesel engine so that they match the US standards nitrogen oxides emissions during emissions test in the laboratory. But during driving the emissions were up to 40 times higher. This affects about 11 million diesel cars, among them 480,000 cars in the United States will needs to be fixed.

 

“Dieselgate” is considered as one of the greatest frauds in corporate history. Jack Ewing, European economics correspondent of the International New York Times in Frankfurt, is already working on a book abot the Volkswagen scandal which hit the headlines in Hollywood. Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way Productions and Paramount acquired the rights of his untitled book.
