The Levi\u2019s stadium in Santa Clara where the Supe Bowl 50 takes place is the first U.S. professional football venue that got a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usgbc.org\/leed#certification\">LEED<\/a> gold certification. Leadership in Energy &amp; Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. As an Official Sustainability Partner of the San Francisco Bay Area Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.terrapass.com\/\">TerraPass <\/a>provides Carbon Offsets and BEF Water Restoration Certificates\u00ae to enable fans to take responsibility for their climate impact at the big game. With every purchase made, a donation will be given to San Francisco Carbon Fund to support the local Urban Sprouts project.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The measures include that the team will travel to the event by carbon neutral transportation. Eco-friendly transportation is also an option for the fans.<br \/>\nThanks to the partnership with the San Francisco Bike Coalition a bike valet area will be set up at Super Bowl City so that the bikes are stored in a safe place. In addition, ticket holders can use public transportation to the stadium through the Super Bowl 50 Fan Express and a carpool program.<br \/>\nThe Host Committee\u2019s master food concessionaire Legends will be serving locally sourced and organic food options in Super Bowl City. A strong, active food recovery program will ensure that various food banks around the Bay Area benefit from receiving food for the needy that would otherwise go to waste.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As part of the #BringYourOwn campaign, fans are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles and will be able to rehydrate using free water stations located throughout Super Bowl City. All 5,000 volunteers and 5,000 media personnel will be using reusable BPA free stainless steel bottles provided by official sustainability partner Klean Kanteen.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition the Host Committee created the <a href=\"http:\/\/playyourpart.sfbaysuperbowl.com\/\">Play Your Part <\/a>campaign in order to motivate the fans to follow the sustainable practices. They are earning bonus points for their eco-friendly choices which can win them Super Bowl tickets.
