And to take it a step further, we offer innovative, absolutely carbon-free solutions. We\u2019ve been working closely with the CNC (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnc.fr\/web\/en\">Centre national du cin\u00e9ma<\/a>), which has a fund dedicated to technical innovation in the production process\u201d, says Olivier-Ren\u00e9 Veillon, Founding Member of Ecoprod and Chief Executive Officer of \u00cele-de-France Film Commission. \u201cWe have the tools. We have the financing. Now, for the companies, it\u2019s simply a matter of strategy and administration.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Since the Ecoprod Charter was launched in spring 2014, it has been signed by more than 61 members. Among them is Cyril Barnier, Founder of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alternaturemedia.com\/\">Alternature M\u00e9dia<\/a>, a full-service company which offers production, shooting as well as post-production. \u201cAll of the products consumed during filming are bio-friendly or local, and we collect the refuse we create\u201d, emphasizes Barnier. \u201cWe manage our budget in favor of studio management products and equipment.\u201d For aerial shots, Alternature M\u00e9dia has a drone that works with a GoPro.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDrones are also considered as an ecologically-friendly alternative to certain standard film shots by Sophie Geoffroy, Producer at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.athenium.fr\/\">Athenium Film<\/a> which specializes in production, shooting, post-production, VFX as well as aerial photography. \u201cA crane ties up an entire street and it remains difficult to move if I\u2019m filming in a forest or on the seashore\u201d, Geoffroy points out. \u201cYou also have to take into consideration the transportation required to move a crane to a location for a shot that sometimes lasts only a few seconds. The drone is much easier to transport and it sets up very quickly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-1654\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1654 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"SAM_6821\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2016\/02\/SAM_6821-630x473.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>But of course, a drone has its limitations; for example, a drone never could have done the opening shot of <em>Le Grand Bleu<\/em>. \u201cOnce we have a choice, we go with the more ecological alternative; on the other hand, when it\u2019s necessary and indispensable, we go with the helicopter\u201d, explains the producer. \u201cWe know all along that we can later compensate for the carbon consumption by pulling other levers. This is what makes the Carbon\u2019Clap\u00a9 so interesting. It gives you a global overview of the project.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Athenium Film, the tools and guides set forth by Ecoprod are easy, practical, and quickly put to use. \u201cIt\u2019s a good tool for clients, and it gives them a chance to learn where the areas of improvement lie, those areas that don\u2019t harm a project\u2019s artistic vision.\u201d For Yann Coatsaliou, President of the production company 360 M\u00e9dias, the Ecoprod Charter subscribes to a set of political choices which he has already adopted. \u201cIn smaller work environments, it\u2019s easy, since I\u2019ve got a free hand to pull lots of different levers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Charter is a reference, identity branding for all companies in the film industry engaged in an eco-responsible process, which is one of the dimensions of CSR \u2014 Corporate Social Responsibility. This new tool represents a guideline that aids companies in the progressive adoption of an eco-responsible approach through the constant improvement of the information delivered, as well as through reflection, and implementation. \u201cCompanies are developing new lighting systems, drones, and green data centers. Technological innovation allows us to live comfortably\u201d, sums up Geoffroy. \u201cWe could stay in Aquitaine, birthplace of the drone, without changing our relationship with either clients or lighting equipment.
