Globally, about one-third of food is wasted which comes down to 1.6bn tons every year that are worth about $1tn. About one-fifth of all fruit and vegetables are dumped because they don\u2019t fulfill the industry standard of perfection. In order to raise awareness for the problem of food waste, the New York-based <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adcouncil.org\/\">Ad Council<\/a> launched the video clip <em>The Extraordinary Life and Times of Strawberry<\/em> that shows the life circle of a strawberry.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WREXBUZBrS8\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<p>But there are also actions taken to minimize the food waste. In Australia, the food rescue organization <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ozharvest.org\/\">OzHarvest<\/a> is collecting fruit, cookies, sandwiches, or hot meals from flights which were cancelled at Brisbane Airport. Founded in 2004, the organization cooperates with over 2,000 businesses such as supermarkets, restaurants, caf\u00e9s, airports and catering companies across Australia to stop the food waste.
