ECOCUP opens with the Russian premiere of the\u00a0investigation movie <em>Born to be free<\/em> by Gayane Petrosyan. Following three free-diving women in the most remote corners of Russia, the film\u00a0 is already compared with the award-winning documentary <em>The Cove<\/em> by Louie Psihoyos.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2018s festival edition presents a selection of the most recent environmental documentaries from all across the world such as <em>The age of consequences<\/em> by Jarred P. Scott, <em>Honey hunters<\/em> by Kristian Matysek and <em>Babushkas of Chernobyl<\/em> by Holly Morris.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/205274132\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are especially strong films from Russia in the program. Among the entries is<em> 24 Snow<\/em> by Mikhail Barynin that had it\u2018s world premiere in the NATIVe program at the 2017 Berlin International Film Festival. <em>24 Snow<\/em> is about a nomade who passionately devotes his life to traditional horse breeding, toughing out the winter in the taiga. One of the most international successful Russian documentaries of the last years is <em>Small people. Big trees<\/em> in which Vadim Vitovtsev shows the influence of the western culture on the Pygmies, a tribe of the shortest people on Earthin the Central African Republic. Young members of the tribe want to explore modernity and use the latest technological achievements.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Besides the film program, the festival also provides an interactive workshop with the whale\/ shark activist and filmmaker Erin Calmes as well as\u00a0 open talks with Birgit Heidsiek, Publisher of <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/about-us\/\">Green Film Shooting <\/a>who has been invited by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.goethe.de\/ins\/de\/en\/index.html\">Goethe Institut<\/a> to Moscow. The ECOCUP Film Festival takes place in Moscow until March, 2nd.
