The European network that brings together more than hundred production companies from Europe and North America, compiled green guidelines, which suggest the use of technologies, workflows and best practices with a low environmental impact. The package of measures includes to hire a green consultant for a production and the use of a carbon calculator.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the transportation it is recommended to take trains instead of airplanes if the travel time is shorter than five hours. Concerning this, the German Independent Producer\u2019s Association sets higher standards with the rule to take a train when the travel time will exceed six hours. At least, the EPC recommendation is a bit stricter than the one by European pay TV network <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2019\/05\/02\/skys-sustainability-strategy\/\">Sky<\/a> which allows crew members to fly if they travel further than 400 kms. When choosing locations, factors such as distance, reachability and access to public transportation are also to be considered. The use of generators should be limited to three days per location. If any possible, production should use hybrid aggregates or generators EU Stage V, which are required for all new registrations in regards to the Regulation <a href=\"https:\/\/eur-lex.europa.eu\/legal-content\/EN\/TXT\/HTML\/?uri=CELEX:32016R1628&amp;from=DE\">(EU) 2016\/1628<\/a> since October 2016. Furthermore, the use of energy saving technologies such as LED is suggested.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Waste management also needs to be done as well as the avoidance of single-use dishes, plastic bottles and plastics give-aways. The use of recycling paper is recommended while environmentally harmful substances such as styrofoam and PVC is forbidden. For catering, regional and if possible organic vegetarian\/vegan are suggested as well as the use of tap water.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At production design and set construction, the recyclability of used materials should be considered, costumes washed with environmentally acceptable detergents as well as environmentally friendly products in the hair and make up department.
