The ambitious climate targets and the implementation of the European Green Deal have set a new course for climate and environmental policy in Europe. \u2028In order to achieve the climate neutrality targets in the EU by 2050, greenhouse gas emissions must be gradually reduced. The conference <a href=\"https:\/\/creative-europe-desk.de\/artikel\/events\/the-green-deal-for-european-cinemas\">The Green Deal for European Cinemas<\/a> by the network of <a href=\"https:\/\/creative-europe-desk.de\/\">Creative Europe Desks MEDIA<\/a> \u2028and Birgit Heidsiek, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gr\u00fcneskino.de\">FFA Green Cinema Consultant<\/a>, will provide an overview for energy- and resource-saving solutions that will pay off for the bottom line as well as the climate.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>These include ventilation systems with heat recovery, solar power from the cinema roof, sustainable products at the concession counter, and waste reduction through reusable solutions.\u2028 The Green Deal for European Cinemas conference will provide an overview of legal requirements, possible solutions and best practices. Reducing consumption not only saves costs, but also makes sustainable measures more relevant when communicating with audiences. The implementation and support of sustainable measures will be the topic of the subsequent discussion with representatives of Creative Europe MEDIA and exhibitors from various European countries.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Lucia Recalde, Head of <a href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/culture\/funding-creative-europe\/creative-europe-media-strand\">Creative Europe MEDIA<\/a> at the European Commission, will give an introduction on the relevant MEDIA strategies. Various EU regulations as, for example, the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) and the Ecodesign Directive need to be addressed by cinemas. Lauriane Bertrand, Creative Europe MEDIA, European Commission \u2028Paola Migliorini, Deputy Head of Unit, Sustainable Production, Products, and Consumption, DG Environment, European Commission \u2028and Benjamin Dauhrer, CTO\/CMO, Cinecitta, Nuernberg, Germany, will discuss the implementation of eco-friendly measures in the operation of cinemas.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Exhibitors from various European countries will give best practice examples. Benjamin Dauhrer, CTO\/CMO, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinecitta.de\/\">Cinecitta<\/a>, Nuernberg, Germany, will explain how energy efficiency of HVAC systems can be increased. The Renewable Energy Directive \u2028can be put into a best practice in cinemas as Natasha Padbury, Office and Sustainability Manager, <a href=\"https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2018\/10\/30\/sustainability-first-2\/\">Depot Cinema<\/a>, Great Britain, will present. Since July 2021, the Circular Economy Action Plan: The New Directive on Single-Use Plastic Products \u2028is effective. Jasper Naaijkens, <a href=\"https:\/\/cinecitta.nl\/\">Cinecitta<\/a>, Film Programmer, Tilburg, Netherlands, will speak about sustainable\u00a0 solutions for the concession stand.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Green Cinema Conference will be moderated by Birgit Heidsiek.
