In total, 530 films from all across the world were submitted for the documentary, spot and info competitions . \u201cWe have a jury of 50 people who are separated in three competitions.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 75% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" title=\"Georges Pessis.mov\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/724080170?h=08a1c4b5ae&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The Grand Prize for the best documentary was awarded to the Australian film <em>Carbon \u2013 The Unauthorised Biography<\/em>. Produced by Lucy Maclaren, Niobe Thompson, Sonya Pemberton, the two hours long documentary gives an insight in the complex coherencies between carbon and climate change. \u201cPeople think we have a carbon problem\u201d, the astrophysics Neil deGrasse Tyson points out. \u201cDon\u2019t blame carbon, it is not carbon\u2019s fault.\u201d<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/2bdcFv9IcHs\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe>\n<p>Indeed, all of our food that we eat, the clothes that we wear and more than 90 percent that we see is carbon. It is in fabrics, wood, in all plastics and in our bodies. \u201cEvery cell in our body is loaded with carbon. It is part of our lives\u201d, emphasizes the astrophysicist. In<em> Carbon \u2013 The Unauthorised Biograph<\/em>y, an outstanding documentary in terms of story and visual style, scientists explain why fossil fuels need to stay in the ground.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Philippe Fortin, Director Contents &amp; Development at French production house <em>Grand Angle Corporate<\/em>, presented the film<em> Tierrre de Liens<\/em> about the same-named initiative in France which supports organic farming. Due to real estate speculations,\u00a0 about 700 hectar of agricultural and untouched areas are sealed with concrete each week in France. The <a href=\"https:\/\/terredeliens.org\/\">Tierre de Liens <\/a>foundation supports projects that cultivate eco-friendly agriculture and protect the land on a longterm basis.<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" title=\"Philippe Fortin.mov\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/724093141?h=0bebce87db&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Preservation of the biodiversity, agriculture and sustainable resources such as soils, seas and forests as well as sustainable production are themes of the categories for the three Deauville Green Awards competition for spots, documentaries and image films. A transition in food production and agriculture also requires new solutions. Vincent Doumeizel, Senior Advisor on Oceans &amp; Food to the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.globalcompact.de\/en\/\"> UN Global Compact<\/a>, suggests the consumption of seaweed. \u201cSeaweed can be used for the emerging population and is helpful for our climate\u201d, says the seaweed specialist.\u201cThe new food that we are going to have touches everybody\u201d, says Georges Pessis, \u201cbecause we all have to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<div style=\"padding: 56.25% 0 0 0; position: relative;\"><iframe style=\"position: absolute; top: 0; left: 0; width: 100%; height: 100%;\" title=\"Vincent Doumeizel\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/724085608?h=7cdb784085&amp;badge=0&amp;autopause=0&amp;player_id=0&amp;app_id=58479\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In the Info competition which presents films by NGOs and institutions with a length up to 26 minutes, the Grand Prize went to the WWF Deutschland production <em>Love<\/em> by Anne Thomas. \u201c<em>Love<\/em> is a parable about the relationships of humans to the forest\u201d, says Susanne Winter, who is in charge of forest at WWF Deutschland. \u201cIt is a story about a tree who develops a deep relationship to a boy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>A citizens&#8217; movement is the UNESCO Green Citizens project which won the Troph\u00e9e Or for the same-name info film in the category on humanitarian action and solidarity. A wake-up call for social justice is the spot <em>The Unknown Heroes<\/em> by St\u00e9phane Barbato, which won the Grand Prize in the Spot competition.
