According to a study by the <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.ebu.ch\/groups\/green\">Green EBU group<\/a>, two percent of global greenhouse gas emissions result from Information and Communication Technology. While there are more or less strict requirements in the car and energy industries, in the Film\/ TV sector which is supported with public money, there are no limits set for the carbon emission output yet.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>But all over Europe are also green initiatives coming out of the ground. The <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2015\/01\/28\/the-green-consciousness-of-a-production\/\">Filmf\u00f6rderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein<\/a> launched a new sustainable support measure in the beginning of 2015. A film that received funding from the FFHSH can also apply for a green supervisor. If the concept is convincing, the costs will be covered.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is really important that there are team members in any department who care about sustainability and discuss their efforts with a green supervisor. This way, the whole team can develop a bigger awareness\u201d, states Eva Hubert, Executive Director, Filmf\u00f6rderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH) in Germany.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/02\/Berlinpanel.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-653 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/02\/Berlinpanel-300x149.jpg\" alt=\"Berlinpanel\" width=\"300\" height=\"149\" srcset=\"https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/02\/Berlinpanel-300x149.jpg 300w, https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/02\/Berlinpanel-1024x507.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2015\/02\/Berlinpanel-630x312.jpg 630w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>\u201cYou have to have as many people involved as you can have, then it is everybody\u2019s responsibility\u201d, emphasizes Siebe Dumon, Head of Training and Research at the <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2014\/02\/05\/an-important-incentive\/\">Flanders Audiovisual Fund<\/a> in Belgium. \u201cIf there is just one person responsible, then everybody can say \u2018Oh, I don\u2019t have to care about it because it is his job\u2019. But if everybody gets responsibility on it, then you see that everybody takes the responsibilty. Therefore, a green supervisor is really essential to get to results when you have someone who is taking the lead.\u201d The green clock keeps ticking. \u201cThe time frame is really very narrow\u201d, says Siebe Dumon. \u201cThat is why I want to go fast.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to Joanna Gallardo, <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2015\/01\/29\/the-french-connection\/\">Ecoprod<\/a> Coordinator at the Ile-de-France Film Commission in France, the development of an European carbon calculator is already an issue in the Green EBU group. \u201cInside the group there are two carbon calculator providers\u201d, points out Joanna Gallardo. While the BBC has Albert, in France Ecoprod members such as the TV stations TF1 and France T\u00e9l\u00e9vision developed the Carbon Clap. \u201cA European carbon calculator is quite difficult in terms of calculation because we don\u2019t have the same standards. But at least a European guideline would be interesting because there are more and more co-productions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The approach to work more closely together on a European level is natural for Els Rientjes, <a href=\"http:\/\/greenfilmshooting.net\/blog\/en\/2015\/01\/21\/completing-the-chain-of-sustainability\/\">Sustainability Manager<\/a> in the Netherlands, who considers to adapt the carbon calculator from Belgium. \u201cWhy should we spend our money on the development of a new carbon calculator if f there is already something available at VAF\u201d, concludes the former creative producer.
