Big trouble with Indonesia

Hollywod star and environmentalist Leonardo DiCaprio is criticizing that palm oil plantations in Indonesia are destroying huge areas of rainforests. After visiting the Mount Leuser National Park in Sumatra, DiCaprio expressed his concerns on Instagram. "The expansion of palm oil plantations is fragmenting the forest and cutting off key elephant migration corridors”, states the Hollywood actor. "A world-class biodiversity hotspot, but palm oil expansion is destroying this unique place."

IndonesiaThe Indonesian government is not amused that the Oscar winner takes a stand for the endangered wildlife. "We can blacklist him from returning to Indonesia at any time if he keeps posting incitement or provocative statements in his social media”, declares Heru Santoso, spokesman for the Directorate General for Immigration at the Law and Human Rights Ministry. Meanwhile, their threat has raised the international media attention for this issue.
