The true cost of fashion

At the Global Fashion Capitals Conference in New York, American writer/ director Andrew Morgan will present his documentary The True Cost in which it becomes obvious who really pays the price for our fashion. "This is a story about clothing. It’s about the clothes we wear, the people who make them, and the impact the industry is having on our world”, emphasizes the filmmaker. The price of clothing has been decreasing for decades, while the human and environmental costs have grown dramatically. “

 

Filmed in countries all over the world, from the brightest runways to the darkest slums, and featuring interviews with the world’s leading influencers such as Stella McCartney, Livia Firth and Vandana Shiva, The True Cost invites the viewer on a journey around the world and into the lives of the many people and places behind our clothes.

 

The Global Fashion Capitals Conference take place at The Graduate Center  in New York Cityon October 13.  Registration for the afternoon session  is free and open to the public. The film screening of The True Cost will be followed a Q&A with director Andrew Morgan.
