Green Shooting Card goes Golden Globe

Hamburg-based director Fatih Akin won the Golden Globe for Best Foreign Language Film for his sustainably  produced thriller In the Fade. The Golden Globe Awards are an important indicator for the Academy Awards
„Wow!  In the Fade continues winning awards”, says Maria Köpf, Managing Director, Filmförderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein (FFHSH). Together with her  film-funding team she’s keeping her fingers crossed for the Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles on March 4.  The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is going to announce the nominations for Oscars on  January 23.

Supported by the FFHSH, the German-French co-production In the Fade was largely shot on location in Hamburg, and it was produced  in an environmentally friendly manner. Green measures included daily inspirational messages on sustainability; digital call sheets that reduced paper usage: and regional cuisone from the catering department. Thanks to thermal cups, plastic waste on set was drastically reduced.

Acknowledging the sustainable measures undertaken, the Film Commission Hamburg awarded In the Fade with a Green Shooting Card. This political thriller was produced by Akin’s Hamburg-based production company bombero international in co-production with Warner Bros. Film Productions Germany, Macassar Productions, Pathé and corazón international. The Golden Globe is a tremendous honor: “The entire city of Hamburg is celebrating together with Fatih Akin, Nurhan Şekerci-Porst, Diane Kruger and  bombero and Warner", added Mnaging Director Maria Köpf.
