For the 7th edition of the Deauville Green Awards which will take place on June 19 and 20 in the picturesque French seaside resort, documentaries, image films as well as commercials can be submitted in 14 different categories until April 13. The thematic spectrum in the three competitions ranges from fight against climate change to biodiversity, energy transition, cirular economy and fair trade products up to technological innovations in favor of sustainability. Further subjets in the competition categories include construction of buildings and cities, sustainable agriculture, transportation and eco-mobility as well as eco-tourism.
On the occasion of the World Water Forum in Brazil, various expert discussions at the Deauville Green Awards will focus on water as the central theme. A first glimpse of the upcoming green festival gave an event with climatologist and Nobel Prize winner Jean Jouzel and Gaël Giraud, leading economist of the French development agency Agence française de développement. They discussed several solutions to fight climate change, among them a fiscal control mechanism such as a carbon tax. Jean Jouzel will be the patron of the 7th edition of the Deauville Green Awards.
The festival gives the film and media industry a platform to exchange innovations in the field of ecology, sustainability and responsibility. Works which are spreading out a green message may be awarded a Golden Green Award. Among the 300 industry organizations and companies that are expected to attend the event are representatives from broadcasters such as ARD, ZDF, Euronews, TF1, France Television, RTBF, Radio Canada, but also the Ile-de-France Film Commission, the French National Library, the WWF as well as innovative start ups. In addition to the film screenings in Deauville there will also be workshops take place by leading industry players such as the French Ministry of Culture, TF1 and Ecoprod.
