Prominent speakers at the event, which will be opened by State Secretary Jochen Flasbarth, include documentary Producer/ Director Jan Haft as well as Director, Actor and Environmentalist Hannes Jaenicke who gives the keynote speech. At The Green Framework panel, participants will discuss the general framework of environmentally-friendly film production and compare different approaches in order to determine what serves the environment best.
At the Sustainability at Work panel, producers will discuss the obstacles that make green production more difficult. Furthermore, it will be explored which green actions have already been taken beyond the implementation of reusable bottles, coffee cups, car sharing, and compliance with waste management regulations. The participants of the discussion include Karsten Stöter, German Film Producers Association, Latvian Producer Antra Cilinska from Jura Podnieka Studija in Riga, Michael Imboden from Swiss production company Triluna Film as Emellie O’Brien, CEO of New York-based eco consultant company Earth Angel as well as Niels Maier, Gaffer and CEO of the Cologne-based film equipment rental house Maier Bros.

The Hollywood actor travelled around the world to promote the environmntal documentary feature film Trashed by Candida Brady which deals with the global garbage problem: „We buy it, we bury it, we burn it and then we ignore it“, says Brady. „With Jeremy Irons as our guide, we discover what happens to the billion or so tons of waste that goes unaccounted for each year.“
